The Nature of a Gospel Church, by John Church 58014 [Subtitle: a confession of Evangelical Principles] [Link: http://www.gutenberg.org/5/8/0/1/58014 ] [Files: 58014-0.txt; 58014-h.htm] For those wishing to know: a short sermon, around 1814, from John Church (1780-1826?) and list of the beliefs members of his church would agree to. They are essentially what today would be evangelical ones, but without an association to a governing body, John Church owning the building, preaching and being in control. All the best, David Overcast England

The Morning of Spiritual Youth Improved, by John Church 58012 [Subtitle: in the prospect of Old Age and its Infirmities] [Link: http://www.gutenberg.org/5/8/0/1/58012 ] [Files: 58012-0.txt; 58012-h.htm] For those wishing to know: this is a series of letters (or possibly short sermons) written by John Church (c1780-1826?), possibly to members of his church, using the Twelfth Chapter of Ecclesiastes in the Bible as a sort of connecting basis. It's very strange as instead of expounding the text, he spends a good deal of his time describing the human body, and also having a go at those who accused him of Antinomian theology. Published in 1814 when the scandals were widely discussed. All the best, David, Warmest England

The Living Letter, written with the Pen of Truth, by John Church 58011 [Link: http://www.gutenberg.org/5/8/0/1/58011 ] [Files: 58011-0.txt; 58011-h.htm] For those wishing to know, another sermon (from 1814) by John Church: it's father confused and ends with a postscript where John Church has a go at those who had published a pamphlet accusing him of molesting young men in Ipswich. Whilst these accusations could not be successfully used in court, they combined with others from Banbury, etc. and resulted in the pamphlets that would spare no blushes in condemning himn. All the best, David, England with warm breezes

A Feast for Serpents, by John Church 58010 [Link: http://www.gutenberg.org/5/8/0/1/58010 ] [Files: 58010-0.txt; 58010-h.htm] For those wishing to know: another sermon from John Church (c1780-1826?), this time focusing on those who had accused him of molesting young men etc. and pointing out that Church and his followers were the righteous, going to everlasting bliss, and those against him were ... well, I'm sure you get the drift. Serpents feast on dust by the way. All the best, David, England warm and drops of rain

The Glorious Law-Giver, and the Obedient Subject, by John Church 58006 [Link: http://www.gutenberg.org/5/8/0/0/58006 ] [Files: 58006-0.txt; 58006-h.htm] For those wishing to know: another sermon by John Church (c1780-1826?) preached 1810. He seemed to be having trouble getting his congregation to take communion and this is aimed at them. Again, it's much more like a sermon than his later ones. All the best, David, Overcast England
